The early morning darkness could not hide the excitement of building day. “Well everybody just wants to help, young and old, everybody wants to do something,” says volunteer Ruth Hein.
It has taken weeks of planning, but after a hearty breakfast, some morning coffee and help from the sun, the work day started with a bang.
Two months ago, arson turned the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall into nothing but charred brick and rubble. Police believe two 15 year olds started the fire. However, even though their loss was devastating, church members say there are no hard feelings.
Now they are looking toward the future. About 200 volunteers showed up this morning and more are expected throughout the week.
The project should be finished by Sunday.
